Bananas (Ensete, Musa, Musella)

An exotic jungle plant that adds immediate impact to any garden or home. Buy Banana plants online from us and you will have a plant that can grow to great heights if fed and watered well. Depending on the species/variety they display varying degrees of hardiness. Most of our banana plants for sale will require some protection in the winter if left outside – or they can be moved indoors to a garage, shed or conservatory etc. One of the few fruiting bananas in the UK is the Dwarf Cavendish. Our range of banana plants offer a wide range of foliage colours, from the deep reds of the Ensete ventricosum maurelii, to the darker reds and greens of the Tandarra Red and the more subtle striations of the Musa sikkimensis Red Tiger. Others have their own profile (see Musa basjoo (red and green)and Musa Siam Ruby. Some flower dramatically like the Musella lasiocarpa which is sacred to Buddists. See the individual product descriptions for the various and varied characteristics. If you want to add drama to a garden or a home, this is the way! A small plant a few inches high can grow many feet in a growing season, producing a leaf or more a week in the summer. Food and water are the key factors to rapid growth and a healthy plant. Be aware that the leaves of some varieties, especially the larger leafed ones like Musa basjoo, can be damaged by strong winds so they prefer a more sheltered position.

Later on in the season, almost all of the Musas and Lasiocarpas will produce ‘pups’ or babies that you can grow on yourself to add to your collection.
