This variety of palm has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit which means it is excellent for garden use, not particularly susceptible to pests and diseases and does not require any specialist care.
This is a slow growing evergreen palm with fan shaped leaves 2 – 3ft across. On mature plants they bear tiny yellow flowers in summer.
Can reach a height of 5ft with a 5ft span but can be containerized if you want to limit growth.
One of the most hardy palms available, a mature specimen should survive pretty much any British winter. Said to be hardy down to -10°C but our plants have survived lower than -10°C over extended periods without any problem and were totally unprotected. They prefer a sunny position and are more susceptible to wind damage than cold or wet.
