Dasylirion glaucophyllum (or Hidalgo Sotol, or Wheelerii) is a rare Yucca-like succulent with upright toothed superbly glaucous wedgewood blue leaves to 1m, max. plant height 1.5 m. Originates from Northern Mexico. When it flowers the spike will get 18 ft tall covered with small white flowers. The overall appearance is that of a gray green grass, or with age a gray green grass Tree. As you can see, as it matures, it develops an unusal architectural trunk. The picture shows how the lower leaves die down and cutting them off slowly produces that dramatic looking trunk. Blooming period : Summer. Available with 20 and 30cm trunks.
